Lashof Violins performs thousands of repairs every year, from bridges and bow rehairing to major repairs such as neck grafts and bow head splines.  Our staff are all trained repair technicians. While many violin makers will rehair a few bows a month, Lashof Violins rehairs over a thousand every year. Other local makers actually purchase supplies from us since they use such small quantities. Although we perform so many repairs every year, each is treated individually as to it's particular needs. Instruments are setup for their best performance both tonally and mechanically. A student violin set up incorrectly will not only have a poor sound but will make it harder to play and thus learn. The best repairs are performed by those individuals whose training is complete as luthiers so that they understand the violin from the inside out from it's birth. All of the full time repair personnel at Lashof Violins are violin makers or are training in the fine art of violin making. A new bass bar cannot be fitted to an instrument properly if one does not truly understand the vibrations of a violin top as it is being made.
