V403 - Medio Fino - 3/4 Violin Outfit (French; c.1900)

A 3/4 "Medio Fino" violin from the Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy Firm. It was made around the turn of the 20th century (circa 1900-1910) in Mirecourt, France.

This violin has a one-piece back and displays the characteristic etched (not inlaid) purfling which can be seen on every "Medio Fino" violin which left the workshops of the Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy (or J.T.L).

The J.T.L Firm was the largest of the great Mirecourt making firms, producing over 150,000 instruments and employing 1,000 artisans during its time. The "Medio Fino" is one of J.T.L's student-quality instruments and was distributed widely throughout the world until the mid-1900s.
